Republican candidate Youngkin apparent winner of the VA gubernatorial race

Youngkin leads the VA gubernatorial elections. Youngkin receives 50.82% of the votes.

The Facts

Unofficially, Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin is leading the VA gubernatorial election with 50.82% of the votes.

The unofficial results show that Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe and Liberation candidate Princess L. Blanding received 48.40% and 0.69% of the votes, respectively.

Youngkin tweeted, “THANK YOU, VIRGINIA! It’s a new day in the Commonwealth, and I am profoundly humbled by the trust placed on me. We are going to get to work on Day One to ensure that Virginians soar and never settle.”

McAuliffe released an official statement on his Twitter page congratulating Governor-elect Youngkin on his win and wished him and his family the best.

According to the VA Department of Elections, the election results are incomplete as absentee ballots will be accepted until November 5th. The results will be certified on November 15th.
