President Joe Biden spoke at a COP26 press conference on November 2nd in Glasgow, Scotland.
Biden said that by showing up at the Summit, the US has had a “profound impact” on how the world views the nation and its leadership role.
Biden also spoke about China and Russia’s absence at COP26. Biden referred to China’s absence from the Summit as a “big mistake” for the country.
Biden said, “The rest of the world is going to look to China and say, “What value added are they providing?” And they’ve lost an ability to influence people around the world and all the people here at COP – the same way, I would argue, with regard to Russia.”
Biden stated that it (climate) was a massive issue that China and Russia walked away from, adding, “How do you do that and then claim to be able to have any leadership now?”
