Belarus, Russia accused of orchestrating the Polish border crisis

Poland deploys troops to stem migrant influx. Belarus accused of orchestrating border crisis.

Where: Poland and Belarus

The Facts

Poland deployed troops to the Poland-Belarus border to prevent hordes of migrants from crossing over.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki accused Belarus of attacking the Polish border by orchestrating the migrant crisis and referred to the situation as a hybrid war that used people as “human shields.”

Morawiecki stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin masterminded the border crisis, further accusing the Belarusian and Russian leaders of attempting to destabilize the European Union.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko denied involvement in the situation. Belarusian authorities condemned Poland for deploying troops without notice and warned against further provocations.

Lukashenko stated, “To conduct a war with these unfortunate people on the border of Poland with Belarus and move forward columns of tanks – it’s clear this is either a training exercise, or it’s blackmail. We will calmly stand up to this.”
