Jan 6th panel subpoenas DOJ lawyer. Jeffrey Clark issued a subpoena.

Where: Washington, DC

The Facts

The House committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot issued a subpoena to Jeffrey Clark.

Clark was a former Justice Department lawyer and an ally of Donald Trump. He aided Trump’s efforts to challenge the 2020 election results.

At least three people involved in the rally preceding the riot have handed over documents in response to subpoenas from the committee.

In a letter to Clark, the chairman of the committee, Representative Bennie Thompson, wrote, “The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed credible evidence that you attempted to involve the Department of Justice in efforts to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power.”

A deposition has been scheduled for October 29th and the committee has demanded documents by the same date.
