The Facts

Over 10,000 John Deere workers went on strike on Thursday, having disagreed on wages and working conditions with management.

The United Auto Workers (UAW) union said that the company “failed to present an agreement that met our members’ needs and demands.”

Workers at 14 Deere and Co. locations went on strike, having rejected 5%-6% raises as part of the new contract.

The UAW stated that it would pay members $275 per week in strike pay until both sides hammer out a new contract.

This is John Deere’s first major strike in the past 35 years.
