FDA Advisory Panel on vaccine boosters met. Boosters recommended only for 65+ or at high risk.
Where: USA
The Facts
An FDA advisory panel has recommended Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine booster shots for people 65 and over and people at high risk for Covid-19.
The advisory committee voted 16-3 against recommending boosters for everyone aged 16 and over.
The FDA is not obligated to follow the recommendation of its advisory panel, but it does so normally – Its decision is expected to be made in a few days.
The Biden administration had planned to make booster shots available by September 20th.
The White House had tweeted in August, “The CDC recommends a booster shot for fully vaccinated adults, 8 months after their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Like the vaccine, booster shots will be free and easily accessible. “-Dr. Fauci
