DeSantis’ ban on mask mandate reinstated

Ron DeSantis

Appeals court upholds mask mandate ban. Florida schools banned from mandating masks.

Where: Florida

The Facts

As per court documents filed on Friday, the First District Court of Appeal granted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis approval to uphold an order banning mask mandates in schools.

The move reverses a decision earlier this week that paused the state’s ability to enforce a ban on mask mandates in schools.

The state will now be able to resume punishing school districts that enforce mask mandates – which, up until now, has included withholding funds.

Referring to the court’s decision, DeSantis stated the ruling had “restored the right of parents to make the best decisions for their children.”

On Thursday, President Biden announced the creation of a fund designed to cover state funds withheld from schools because of mask violations.
