TX Governor Greg Abbott tested positive for COVID-19

The Facts

On August 17th, the Texas Governor’s Office confirmed that Governor Greg Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19. The First Lady of Texas, Cecilia Abbott, tested negative.

According to the official statement issued by the Governor’s Office, Abbott is fully vaccinated and is isolating in the Governor’s mansion.

Abbott tweeted, “As you may have heard, I have Covid. Right now I have no symptoms such as fever or aches and pains. Thanks for the well wishes from around the country.”

Abbott is currently receiving Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody treatment, authorized by the FDA for emergency use in individuals with mild to moderate COVID-19 at high risk of developing severe COVID-19.

Office of the Governor Communications Director Mark Miner stated, “Everyone that the Governor has been in close contact with today has been notified.”
