New York City will require proof of Covid-19 vaccination for indoor leisure activities – The policy will be fully enforced starting September 13th.
Mayor Bill de Blasio stated, “You’ll need proof of COVID19 vaccination for indoor dining, indoor gyms, and indoor concerts and performances in New York City. This is a lifesaving mandate to keep our city safe.”
New York City is the first major city in the US to mandate vaccination.
The program, called “Key to NYC Pass” will begin mid-August to a transition period before it is fully enforced.
The city will use a Health Commissioner’s order and a mayoral executive order for the mandate.
To confirm vaccination, New Yorkers will need a vaccination card, or the NYC Covid Safe app, or the Excelsior state app.
