The Facts

Hurricane Henri has strengthened from a tropical storm and is expected to affect Long Island and southern New England on Sunday.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in the parts of the state most in danger of getting impacted.

Massachusetts shut its parks, waterfronts, and campgrounds from Saturday to Monday.

The National Hurricane Center Advisory stated, “Henri Moving Quickly to the North-Northeast. A Dangerous Storm Surge, Hurricane Conditions, and Flooding Rainfall Expected in Portions of the Northeast United States Beginning Late Tonight Or Early Sunday.”

The National Weather Service said Henri has increased speed but is expected to slow as it makes landfall.
