The Facts

Haiti’s civil protection agency said the number of people who died from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti had crossed 1,900 – more than 9,900 are injured.

UNICEF estimates that over 500,000 children have been affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Tropical Storm Grace went across Haiti on Tuesday, hitting the area with heavy rains.

The US Southern Command stated, “Two U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook and two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters with the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment, Joint Task Force-Bravo, based out of Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, arrived at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in support of disaster relief operations for Haiti.”

The US Coast Guard has been transporting Haitians to Port-au-Prince for medical care.
