Full FDA approval expected for Pfizer vaccine

Food and Drug Administration

Full FDA approval of Pfizer vaccine expected. Would be first fully authorized COVID vaccine .

Where: United States

The Facts

The Food and Drug Administration is likely to grant full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine next week.

The Pfizer shot would be the first COVID vaccine to get complete authorization from the federal government.

Vaccination efforts could get a boost by this measure as several Americans were hesitant with emergency-use shots.

The Kaiser Family Foundation website states, “Three in ten of the unvaccinated (31%) report in our KFF Vaccine Monitor surveys that they would be more likely to get vaccinated if the FDA moved vaccines from emergency use to full approval.”

According to the CDC website, 51.2% of the entire American population has been fully vaccinated.
