As of August 15th, the Dixie Fire reached 570,211 acres and is 31% contained.
In the Dixie Fire East Zone, an evacuation order by the Lassen County Sheriff is in effect from Janesville Grade south to the Stuart Lane intersection and west of the Lassen County line.
In the West Zone, heavy smoke resulted in moderate fire activity during the day.
California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) stated, “Expect the fire activity to decrease through the late evening early morning hours.”
According to Cal Fire, the Dixie Fire destroyed 1,173 structures, damaged 80 structures, and currently threatens 14,838 structures.
The USDA said, “The fire has already destroyed an estimated one billion dollars of timber, and an additional one billion dollars of timber value is still threatened.”
