▪ The CDC guidelines updated on Friday do not require vaccinated teachers and students to wear masks inside school buildings.
▪ The CDC stated, “Masks should be worn indoors by all individuals (age 2 and older) who are not fully vaccinated. Consistent and correct mask use by people who are not fully vaccinated is especially important indoors and in crowded settings, when physical distancing cannot be maintained.”
▪ American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten praised the guidance, stated, “Our ultimate goal remains: to get students, teachers and staff back in school buildings full time, and to make sure they’re safe while doing it.”
▪ The CDC stated that students gain from in-person learning, and returning safely to in-person instruction in Fall 2021 is important.
