Where: Toronto, Canada

The Facts

▪ Canada announced Monday it would let fully vaccinated US citizens into the country beginning August 9. Vaccinated citizens from the rest of the world will be allowed in September.

▪ The 14-day quarantine period would be waived for eligible travelers inoculated with vaccines approved for use in Canada. Children who haven’t been vaccinated but are traveling with vaccinated parents won’t have to quarantine either.

▪ When asked if the US will reciprocate, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, “We are continuing to review our travel restrictions. Any decisions about resuming travel will be guided by our public health and medical experts. … I wouldn’t look at it through a reciprocal intention.”

▪ Canada tops the list of G20 countries in terms of vaccination rates. Approximately 80% of eligible Canadians have received at least one dose, while 50% have been fully vaccinated.
