▪ On July 26th, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) became the first federal agency to issue a COVID-19 vaccine mandate – the VA mandate requires their healthcare employees to receive vaccinations within the next two months.
▪ CDC data indicates that community transmission in the District of Columbia is currently substantial, with a 7-day rolling average of 52 cases per 100,000.
▪ Following the surge in community transmission and the number of COVID-19 cases, the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) reimposed the White House indoor masking mandate.
▪ WHCA President Steven Portnoy retweeted, “WHCA President @stevenportnoy informs the press corps that masks are back at the WH, at least until the 7-Day rolling average gets back down below 50 cases per 100,000 ppl”.
