▪ In a press conference, President Biden stated, “[The Delta variant] is a variant that is more easily transmissible, potentially deadlier and particularly dangerous for young people.”
▪ The CDC has classified the B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant circulating in the US as a variant of concern.
▪ The CDC Director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, in an interview on Good Morning America, stated that the Delta variant is “more transmissible than the Alpha variant, or the UK variant that we have here.”
▪ Walensky added, “We saw that quickly become the dominant strain in a period of one or two months, and I anticipate that is going to be what happens with the Delta strain here.”
▪ Biden urged people to get vaccinated.
