The Facts

▪ Ohio State announced the results of its first lottery for Covid-19 vaccine recipients – the lottery was an initiative launched to boost the roll-out of vaccine shots.

▪ Abbigail Bugenske has won the first $1 million prize; Joseph Costello has won the first college scholarship.

▪ Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s office stated, “From May 14 through May 19 as compared to May 7 through May 12, vaccinations in Ohio increased 94% among those 16 and 17 years old, 46% among those 18 and 19 years old, and 55% among those between 20 and 49 years old.”

▪ State officials in California have announced “Vax for the Win,” a program to rejuvenate the vaccination initiative.

▪ Ten winners will be selected on June 15 to receive $1.5 million each; there are other prizes.
