▪ Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order stopping government entities in Texas from mandating the wearing of a mask.

▪ Government entities include counties, cities, public health authorities, school districts, and government officials.

▪ Public schools may continue to follow current guidelines through June 4.

▪ Governor Abbott stated, “Texans, not government, should decide their best health practices, which is why masks will not be mandated by public school districts or government entities.”

▪ Beginning May 21, officials attempting to impose a mask mandate may be fined up to $1,000.

▪ The CDC advocates that schools should continue with the current Covid-19 prevention strategies for the school year 2020-2021.
