▪ The vote by CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) was 14-0 to recommend the shot after reviewing clinical trial data and other relevant information.

▪ The youngest age previously approved for the Pfizer vaccine was 16 years.

▪ The CDC action opens vaccination to approximately 17 million adolescents in the US.

▪ On May 10, the US FDA expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccine to include adolescents 12-15 years of age.
