Member of “Oath Keepers” pleads guilty. First conviction in Capitol riot charges.

The Facts
▪ Jon Schaffer, 53, pleaded guilty on two counts: felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding; entering and remaining in a restricted building/grounds with a dangerous weapon.
▪ The first plea, 100 days after the Capitol attack, came as more than 400 rioters have been arrested across the US.
▪ In his plea agreement, Schaffer has confirmed he is a founding lifetime member of the Oath Keepers, a loosely organized collection of individuals some of whom are associated with militias.
▪ The terms of the plea agreement are broad and require Schaffer to cooperate with the government on relevant matters.
