▪ More than 12 nations had suspended the use of the AstroZeneca shot after reports of rare brain blood clots.

▪ The European Medicine Agency’s (EMA) conclusion was that a link between blood clots and the vaccine could not be ruled out, but that the vaccine’s usefulness in protecting people outweighed the risks.

▪ Germany, France, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia and Lithuania announced their intention of starting the vaccine.

▪ The AstraZeneca vaccine is among the first and cheapest of Covid-19 vaccines to be developed and used.
